Graduate School Admission Results

So excited! Got an email to check the application status.

Already knew, because received an interview invitation at my second option at kellogg

Email to check portal: "The Graduate School at Vanderbilt University receives applications from many outstanding candidates. Unfortunately, limited resources and competition among well-qualified applicants preclude our offering admission to all who seek it." Stats: 4.0 MS GPA, 2.9 undergrad GPA, 2 publications (1 first author), 2 publications in preparation (another first author), several poster presentations and talks at conferences (+ best talk award at an international conference), 1 year teaching experience, a few research awards, and assorted STEM outreach. Very disappointed by the rejection (IGP was my first choice), I thought I would at least have been competitive for an interview.

Low BA GPA, high MS GPA. Lots of research experience but no publications. Got an email of unofficial acceptance from a faculty member's personal email address but it seems like a general email. No interview, so it looks like they are sending out acceptances slowly and in waves; good luck to everyone!

I submitted a deferral request so I can take a year to save for the overseas tuition.

Rejected without interview, just an email. Super bummed out, I had high hopes about this one since I had contacted a faculty member who was looking to build a new lab and I thought we were a great fit. 3.9 GPA, no publications.
