Graduate School Admission Results

Interviewed with 2 PIs and two lab members of one PI. Got rejected in the end. Good job to those admitted!

In case there's someone who have not yet submitted their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), if could do so ASAP, that will be incredibly important to the waitlisted folk.

GPA is grad. It only takes one yes. This is my second time of applying to the school. So happy. 1a/2w/6r/1p

Haven't received the decision yet after 1.5 months from the interview. I wonder if anyone has been admitted, and then I won't wait any longer. Any information will be appreciated!

I only really knew about this when I checked Gradcafe to see others were also getting rejects. Also probably the only school that doesn't send an email to inform that a decision was made. Dodged a bullet with this one if that's how they handle stuff..

Not too surprising, but still a bit disappointed because I thought I was a strong candidate and that it was a good fit. 1A/3R/0W/0P.

After 2 months :((

I recognize that Tennessee is not a top 50 program, but my area of study fits very well with the faculty, and it is a school I’ve always dreamed of attending. It would also give me the opportunity to be close to my spouse again. All you geniuses who got accepted or will be accepted to better schools or who are not highly considering Tennessee, let this be your sign to remove yourself from the waitlist or acceptance list! It would be instrumental in my life. I do wish everyone the best of luck and that they would find good fits and further philosophical inquiry for the next generation!

The letter was actually very thoughtful. I'm devastated, though.

Offered a full-ride with a tuition remission. GPA is undergrad and masters with 2.5 years of research experience and 2 strong LORs.

Offered full-ride funding and entrance scholarship. GPA is from undergrad and masters, had 3 years of research experience and strong letters of recommendation.

I applied for the PhD in Civil Engineering, but was offered admission into the MS program. No word on funding yet.

Tier 3 College in India, 8.96 GPA. 2 years work ex at a reputed product based company in India. No research exp. 3 LORs. 2 from Profs, 1 from reporting manager.
