Physics Graduate School Admission Results

I did have an interview in January where PI basically said I was in and told me to expect an email in the following week. Not sure what happened haha.

I have a Master's with a cgpa 3.98. Physics GRE 990/990 with 95% percentile, and GRE 322/340. I have two research papers in theoretical high-energy physics. However, I want to work in theoretical condensed matter physics. UT Austin told me they don't have a position for theoretical CMP and offered for the experimental. So I am gonna turn down this offer. I got a total of 8 admissions, UT Austin, U of Florida, Rice U, Colorado Boulder, TAMU, UTK, NCSU, and U of Alabama. Only TAMU, UTK, and U of Alabama offered me theoretical condensed matter physics. Finally, I decided to go with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Happy to have a position in my desired field.

cmt. Have been one of the slowest university to send out the decisions, though my POI finally told me that there is no seat in his group on some April 10 or so

2nd rejection today. 3.57 undergrad GPA. 3+ years of research, abstract submitted in related field, masters in related field, 2nd bachelors in different field, 2nd admissions cycle

Went to the top 3 for undergrad—3 years of research and 1 first-author paper. Not too bummed since I already have a school I am going t was interested in thier experimental neutrino group.

Astrophysics sub field. Email to check portal with generic rejection. 3.57 undergrad GPA, 3+ years of research, Master's in related field, abstract published, another Bachelor's in a different field. 8th rejection, heard nothing from 4 schools so far.

Late offer! Super excited, can't believe it!

Yunnan University (YNU), a qs 1000+ Chinese Mainland school. I am disappointed that I did not get any opportunity to participate in the interview. It seems that my school is unknown to most of the professors in the US.

Major mechanical engineering. PGRE 910/990, GRE 317/340, 1 internship in a national lab, no paper, I guess two strong LORs. I got offer letters from OU, FSU, UA, UTK, and NCSU. Finally, I have decided to go the University of Tennessee in Astrophysics. I turned down the rest of the offer letters. All the best for everyone.

No Masters, 1 non-refereed conference publication, age 38 I applied for STFC projects in the subfield of astronomy. First the department notified me about the rejection and the admission team emailed me one week later.

CMT. No GRE/sGRE. 1 preprint, 3 years of CMX research, 6 months of CMT research. No interview. GPA: 4.05/4.3 = 3.77/4.0

It turns out that we might have one opening and so we wanted to check with you to see if you had any interest in our program at this point?" I guess this count as an admission? Turned down immediately after receiving this email for another offer.

Ignore waitlist. Has anyone heard from UC Irvine yet?
