Very kind unofficial offer followed by formal letter via portal!

So excited! Graduated from a top public university in 2023. Not much work experience but strong grades and research experience within undergrad.

Just got an email to check the portal.

I got a nice email letting me know that I'm on the short waitlist and that they are aiming for a cohort of 8. I won't be attending if I got in, because UC Irvine is a way better fit. Also, I did my undergrad at Stanford and I feel like that's frowned upon. 3a/2w/3 interviews waiting to hear back/7 pending.

Finally heard back via a kind email from the co-chairs of the admissions committee. The fit wasn't the best, so overall this is great news for my other applications! I will accept my place on the waitlist to see how the rest of this cycle shakes out. 1a/1w/0r/5p

A professor Emailed me saying that I am on the waitlist because I have a strong profile. He stated that I was going to be accepted very likely because of all years, they used the waitlist. I am going to reject it as I got accepted to a better University and allow other fellows to get an invitation.
