Emailed and informed I am an alternate for admission. This is a top choice program for me so if you don't plan to attend please let UMN know ASAP! Thank you!

As my status has not changed from "Under consideration" since it was submitted months ago, it is safe to assume that it is a rejection that will soon be made formal. There is no use in hoping for an admission when I have not been interviewed or heard back.

To all applicants Fall 2019, Just wanted to say congrats to all that have been offered admission. I will personally say this was my second application cycle and I was successful. Don't give up if this is truly something you're passionate about. Perseverance and diligence pays off :)

Interview on 2/9

Waited 10 weeks for the result. So for all of you who still haven’t received any news, be paitient.

Applied via Express (paper). They lost my notification letter sent via Post office. I guess a 3.9 GPA wasn't good enough for an offer. Found out only after I sent 3 emails to their staff.

Immediately got rejected. They do not put any consideration into research experience and fieldwork (I have plenty of that), which seems counterintuitive. If you don't have great GRE scores AND a great GPA, you will not get in. Pretty superficial way of reviewing. Also, extremely insulting that they denied me two days after the application was due. Looks like they gave it a lot of thought, didn't they?

E-mail to check portal... got accepted without an interview so don't freak out if you've not received an interview!! There is hope!!
