Received invite for technical Assessment because some of the courses I took in college did not meet their standard

In response to the poster below, yes. The CMU CS admission team is a lazy bum. They did not send an official email yet. I have a friend doing post-doc in CMU, so asked him to enquire by cc-ing me in the mail. I ultimately got this response: "Thank you for your interest in our program, unfortunately you did not get accepted into the PhD program of the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon. We had over 1100 student apply, and only a small number of spots available, so there were a very large number of highly qualified students that we were not able to accept. We will be sending out the official notifications soon. I wish you the very best in your future projects, Charlotte Yano CSD Graduate Admissions Coordinator" As a general rule of thumb: if you have not received your acceptance by 1st/2nd week of Feb, it's a reject then. This is true with a high probability for most good US colleges.
