Physics Graduate School Admission Results

Had an interview back in February. Still waiting to hear back. Has anyone else on the waitlist heard anything?

TTPB: I'm not a physics major but damn, I cannot believe UCR rejected a profile and gpa like yours. Mind sharing more info? Interview? Undergrad/masters in physics? They aren't at UCB or UCLA level to be this selective. I really am curious. I hope you get a better admit.

Finally received their generic rejection letter. That took long enough. Said they consider many factors, all of which I have excelled in. 3.96 GPA, a year of research experience, prestigious internship, tutor, TA. 10th and final rejection. What a terrible year for applications.

To the poster below, did you receive a personal response from the physics department in your rejection letter? I was told that I should reapply again next year if I didn't get into a program as I was waitlisted for this year. Sounds like another bait. 0/10. Life seems to be unfair. I just feel like dying.

Astro. It seems that Mcgill always waits until the last minute to send out rejections. Anyway, I have other places to go.

TTPB: Did you really get waitlisted? I have not received any news and in the portal my status is still "In Review".

Said they would get back to me at the end of March. Emailed them a week later and they said mid-April. Emailed a week after that and they said I was waitlisted and to wait another week. Emailed them at the end of that week and they finally gave me an answer. Ridiculous. I would have had no idea I was even waitlisted if I didn't reach out to them several times. I'm not mad the wait was long, I'm mad they didn't tell me anything unprompted.

Is there anyone else here who is going to Weizmann?

Have anyone in physics heard back? They said they would give result by the end of April, now is the end of April, but still nothing.

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back from UC Davis yet? I don't understand what's taking them so long...

Applied to 7 universities, and got rejected by 6 (didn't hear back from one). Idk what to do with my life now? Seems like all Americans are getting acceptances and us internationals are left behind

For those who got rejected by all, you were me last year. What I did was asking a professor in my school do continue to do research after graduation (without paid) and reapply next year, so that you will have a stronger background in research. And I highly recommend the book "Getting in to Grad School for Physics", which I didn't read for the first year and I regret it.
