Condensed Matter Theory. Had chat with on PI before application + with another PI a day before acceptance. PGRE: 730, Final two year average: 3.507

Condensed matter, 2 preprints. I thought caltech was done sending all the notices.

Received a mail from graduate coordinator that said, ''While we are still reviewing applications and making our decisions, and it will be a few weeks until the final decisions are made, I think it will be quite unlikely you will be admitted to our PhD program. The competition for places in your area of interest is especially intense. I hope you will receive other offers and continue your progress in theoretical physics!''

Ignore waitlist. Does anyone have any idea how UC Davis is gonna do the review without the resume and other materials. All they require is a very short SOP + LOR + transcripts.

uk undergraduate, above average in class, hep-ex, poor research experience, no paper, no GRE, no GRE sub, no prior communication with advisor

Research interest in quantum hardware/ quantum experiment

Astrostats + observation. ~1.5 years research experience, 2 first author pubs in ApJ, a few talks/posters, strong LORs, strong statement, no big awards, no GRE, no teaching experience. Emailed potential advisors in October + November but was ignored. No interview. Honestly a little surprised because my physics background is relatively weak. 4/0/5 accept/reject/waiting. Virtual visit March 31 - April 1.

Quantum information theory. No interview. No publications. Two in-progress preprints.

Ignore waitlist. Has anyone applying to hep-th or mathematical physics heard anything from UCSB? I see a lot of posts for CMX but not many other fields so far.
