Admitted in January, just this week received news of funding, fellowship and assistantship

Official letter emailed with funding offered. Will unfortunately have to turn down for a more funded option. Great school and great program so hope to help someone get off the wait list!

Applied for PhD. Offered spot in MA.

e-mail to check website. Undergraduate 3.73 GPA in Sociology from UNCC. Great faculty to work with!!

Has anyone on the waitlist heard about where they are on the waitlist? I contacted the department for this information but I haven't heard anything.

Finally got an email from them to check web site. The email was from the Dean of the entire graduate school of arts and sciences, which could explain why there was a six week delay. Future applicants: if you haven't heard by early February, it's a rejection. I wish I had saved myself six weeks of angst and uncertainty.

to the other sociology phd applicant: i called the admissions department and they said that we should get an email soon. they could not tell me the exact date. only "soon". my application was "completed" on feb 13 because of the holdover from the spring 14 application, so they said it goes out on a rolling basis. i was told i would know by the 14th of march. no change on either my.newschool or admissions hub either.

I know that this is unpleasant news. Unfortunately, we must necessarily base our decisions on materials that reduce unique and complex individuals to the components of their dossier. Nevertheless, I can assure you that your application received the most careful consideration and that the committee's decision was taken after much deliberation."
