Rejected off the waitlist

4.0 GPA during Master's with a published thesis. 2 years of research experience including 1 year of internal DEI research internship. 1 year TA experience. I thought my research aligned well with one of the faculty members in particular, so I contacted them during the summer to chat before I submitted my application. It seemed like I was a good fit on their end, but I guess someone was a better candidate for that POI.

I opened the box, and it turns out the cat was dead all along.

interviewed in mid December. funding: 50% TA. "You should check 'PhD' when you submit your application. But we will only admit you as a MA student for the first year. Students who apply for the Ph.D. will need to pass an evaluation at the end of their first year as a graduate student before being admitted to the Ph.D. program."

Surprisingly, I received an offer with TAship with $2272 a month, 90% fees are covered. Health, dental and vision insurance are covered. Not bad for MS degree. I contacted them several times before I got into and they just ghosted me. I was 99% sure that I would not get in. So, I have accepted an offer elsewhere.

Admitted from the waitlist. You known believe how much pressure I was under this cycle. My parents and family members were messaging me every week since few weeks ago, and I wasn't confident to tell them I have an offer from any admissions offer from schools I applied too. Luckily I am admitted to the school I really wanted to work with a particular faculty, and I am literally in tears. I am 100% sure that I will send a letter to the faculty who sent the admission email that I am attending to this school. Thanks so much brothers/sisters, and I wish everyone the greatest luck they can get after today.

This was my first choice, by far. I was on the waitlist, and I recieved an email yesterday predicting that I would be accepted sometime on Saturday. Then all the applicants with outstanding offers who were planning to decline changed their minds. It's been an emotional rollercoaster of a semester, but damn, that was a brutal way for things to end. If you're going to Notre Dame in the fall, you'd better LOVE every second of the next five years, lol.

3.5 MS gpa, 2 yrs research experience but a W in a graduate mol bio class
