Sociology Graduate School Admission Results

$5000 entrance scholarship and TAship

I was accepted with funding but I will be declining and accepting another offer. I wanted to post something in order to let those know who are on the waitlist. Good luck!

Also got the “scholarship below applicants” line. Also have good grades, am coming from a good school, GRE scores met/exceeded the averages posted on their website, recommenders all went to better schools than UC Davis. I found this line pithy and unhelpful. 1a/2r/4p

Notified me to check portal. Let me know there is no professor in my field of interest.

0a/4r/4p; Email telling me to check portal. Portal letter explanation was mostly generic and then said, "- Not competitive with other applicants because: - Scholarship below that of admitted applicants." I have tons of research experience, honors, and great grades all through community college, undergrad, and masters program. Another big disappointment, but this didn't hurt as bad as the UCSD rejection. Congrats to those admitted!

TTPB: Congrats!!!! Did you receive an interview invite prior to your acceptance? Still waiting to hear back from the program.

TTPB - Yes they really went out. I received my official offer letter yesterday with funding package information. It could be that they are still reviewing applicants but I really don't know.

Did Johns Hopkins really send offers? But the program coordinator told me the committee is still reviewing the applicants.

They said "...you were not selected for admission: not competitive with other applicants because: scholarship below that of admitted students" WOWWW y'all did not have to drag me like THAT lol
