As one of the previous posters noted, U of U used a four-tier ranking system for their applicants. I was placed on the third tier; the waitlist for the waitlist lol. This cycle has been rough, man.

This acceptance actually turned out to be pretty big letdown, as the graduate adviser informed me that the department will not be able to offer me an assistantship due to the departmental funding being cut by 2/3.

I received the same email as the previous posts. I am not optimistic because I am in group 3 (the unranked reserve group). I was surprised that the email did not indicate how many people they are accepting and how many people are in group 2 (the ranked waitlist). If anyone has information regarding this, we should start a forum!

I was told there are four groups: 1. acceptances 2. waitlists (a short, ranked group) 3. reserve waitlists (an unranked group) and 4. rejections. I'm part of group #3. Very happy though, first good news this season :)

They're only offering three spots with funding. First off, if you're excepted, congrats! Second, if you have been excepted but are thinking of rejecting their offer, please do so quickly! Hope everything works out well for all of us (:

Wait, to the below poster, what do you mean they will make decisions about hidden waitlist??

If you were accepted or waitlisted, and already have better offers/places where you would rather go, PLEASE decline sooner rather than later, because they will be making their decisions about the hidden waitlist very soon! This is the only chance for some of us!

To the post below, how did you find the odds of receiving funding? Also, does anyone know when we will get responses for funding?
