Happy to be accepted, but disgusted at the ridiculous length of time it took for them to respond. When I was wait-listed, I was told that I would hear back in April and no later than early May. Yet the letter was only postmarked on May 12... This is pathetic. I think a serious overhaul of the admissions process is needed. Good luck to the rest of you!

To poster below, I was told by graduate secretary that the adcom reviewed the rest of the waitlist last Wednesday (5/7)and started preparing notifications, and that on Fri were still working on rest of funding decisions. They responded back to my e-mail with my acceptance off the waitlist, and when I asked, told me I am likely not funded (and that most of their PhD students are not funded/ and told me today that they would be sending me something official on acceptance "soon". I would e-mail now and follow up with a phone call tomorrow if I were you. Good Luck. Hope to see ya there.

Just got word from grad secretary as she was heading out the door, that I'm in off the waitlist and she is sending out notifications for the waitlisted tomorrow. Am on cloud nine- seems unreal.

I would not assume, poster below from Econ, that you are rejected if have not heard about your waitlist status. CUNY, known for being slow, having late deadlines. For example, in poli sci, the waitlisted (some of us since Jan/Feb) are viewed as a group in May- not before acc to director of admit committee (they will not tell us when exactly) and there is no ranking as well. Did you do peruse previous grad cafe submits here for an idea? Did you e-mail the coordinator of the admit committee or at least the grad secretary?

WTF is the going on? I don't even know whether I am waitlisted or not, I sent an email but no freakin response.....Whats going on with that school? I would be really upset if they misplaced my application or reject me at this time...I rather be rejected in feb or Mars than in May

To last poster- as you may know they have rolling admissions- I believe they should have let you know by March of your ap status of accept, reject or waitlist. They e-mailed me end of feb that I was "waitlisted" and they would take final action on waitlist by May 2. My sporadic e-mails to dept sec yielded little info but was directed to director of adcom Dr. Tien who responded promptly to e-mails- telling me that ad com will not meet until may and I thus I would not hear before May 2. I noticed grad cafe poster rejected off waitlist on May 2 of 2007, so hope for e-mail today but no dice. I e-mailed jessica landis dept sec today on when we will hear but no results. I am e-mailing Tien if I don't hear by Wed next week. They are a little disorganized there to say the least. I'll post here as soon as I hear something.

Anyone else waiting? Dept says they are notifying by May 2. May come first by e-mail. Since dept is reviewing waitlist without first checking who is still interested, we could lose our spots if those who are going elsewhere don't notify them. PLEASE CALL THEM IF YOU ARE GOING ELSEWHERE OR SOME OF US WILL NOT GET IN WHO COULD HAVE. MUCHAS GRACIAS.
