Graduate School Admission Results

Knew this was one of my long-shot programs, still a bit sad, but congrats to the new cohort! :)

Dear Fiction Writer, Thank you for applying to the Creative Writing Program at Boston University and for your patience during the admissions process. I am sorry to say that we will not be able to offer you a space in next year's class. You will receive a formal notice from the graduate school in the days to come. Our program received over 630 applications for the eight openings in poetry and ten in fiction for the 2025-2026 academic year, making our decisions very difficult. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications received, we will not be able to provide individual feedback to applicants. We are aware that the selection process is far from perfect, though we try our best to be fair. This result should not be discouraging. You should know that sometimes applicants have been accepted on the second, or even the third, try—and flourished. Certainly, we wish you the best of luck, and continued work, with your writing. Email to check portal to find a form rejection waiting. It seems I was spoiled with my single early acceptance! Though I suppose this is par for the course when aiming for fully funded, low-acceptance-rate colleges. For some reason, this one in particular was humbling.
