Graduate School Admission Results

4 internships: 1 at a tire manufacturer, 2 at tech companies, 1 at electric car manufacturer in california- all related to data and data science, one published article in a major mathematics journal, research thesis on data science, strong LORs, other math-related extracurriculars. pretty sure this is because my school is a small, public, no name liberal arts college in the middle of no where!

As I expected it...

Applied for thesis option. Got a rejection.

Second time rejected by this program. 3.94 GPA, Math and CS double major from a medium ranked state school. 2 years of undergrad research experience with 1 published NLP paper (first author), 3 years of working experience as a data scientist and SWE. Guess I'm just not Harvard material :(

I was contacted by a POI in January. This decision is not a loss on my end. I was accepted into a better fitted program that I already accepted.

They gave a generic rejection. I have 3.5+ years of experience in data science, strong LORs, and extensive resume. Probably rejected due to GPA or lack of research experience. I got into two schools already, so not devastated.

1 publication + thesis, two presentations, double STEM major, 14 months equivalent full time research. Was switching fields for the application, likely didn't have the background they were looking for.

Email to check portal. Guess PoI match was worse than I thought.

I had an interview late Jan. 4 strong LORs. No GRE. Over 3.9 GPA from undergrad. Strong research experience and posters/upcoming publications but I guess the POI didn't think it was a fit. I'm a bit disappointed with the experience overall.

Received an email saying the update of portal, and got a rejection as expected.

Theory, no interview.
