Vanderbilt University Graduate School Admission Results

Was notified with an email that referred me to check the admissions portal. Congrats to all who were admitted! I applied to 5 programs total, was admitted to 4. Vanderbilt is definitely one of the most selective.

The Graduate School at Vanderbilt University receives applications from many outstanding candidates. Unfortunately, limited resources and competition among well-qualified applicants preclude our offering admission to all who seek it. Please know that your application and supporting materials received a close and careful review. Admissions decisions are difficult, both for faculty who review applications and for applicants who await notification. I regret having to send you this disappointing news, but I wish you every success in the pursuit of your educational goals.

Echoing the others--could the thousands of dollars of application fees you get go toward paying an English grad student to write a rejection letter that's more humane (and just better written)?

Not surprised given how hard it is to get accepted during COVID. letter was terse and they clearly forgot about me. onto the next one

Received an email to check my account. Kind of knew from there it wasn't favorable. Just skimmed for the highlights - better luck next time to me and everybody else who got rejected!

Email to check portal. Rejection letter was cold, repetitive, and just plain rude. And sending out the rejections the day after 3 people emailed them about their status just makes it seem obvious they forgot about us.

Anyone else think the rejection letter was rather rude?

I have not heard anything at all either so I emailed the grad admissions office. However, I have not received a response. Good luck!
