How will you contact USC for deferment? Mail them or is there a formal pipeline in place? Also, how strong should be the reason to defer?

Civil Engineering, University of Southern California Had interviews in January. Invited to Grad Student visit on Mar 2nd. No official offer yet but in the invitation it mentioned that I was being considered for a fellowship.

Cinema & Media Studies, University of Southern California Applied to the PhD program; got a call last week that there were too many qualified candidates who already had MAs (I only have my BA), but that the faculty wanted to offer me a place in the MA cohort. Today, received an official letter and a preliminary offer of 4 renewable semesters of TA-ship that covers all tuition and provides a $5,500 stipend each semester. I ain't mad!
