Got the below notification: "Due to the unprecedented increase in submitted applications, we updated your application status to waitlisted. This means that we need more time to review candidates, and assess enrollment numbers for the Fall 2022 semester before issuing a decision. We hope to report back to you with a definite application decision by July 1, 2022. "

Got an email saying that I am waitlisted, and they "hope to report back to you with a definite application decision by July 1, 2022".

Got email informing the decision was released in the portal.

Got a mail to check the portal.

reject from NEU, UCI, Upenn. Admit from Rutgers, USC, IUB

Reasonably well known Private University. 2 yrs Data Science work exp. 2 First author publications(1 A). Several relevant projects

Got email to check the portal 5 weeks after submitted the application. (3 weeks after the final deadline)

Undergrad from top IIT (India), 9+ GPA, 2 papers at moderate venues (first author, 1 under review), 2 DS internships (incl. at MNC), GRE 335 (170Q), good extracurriculars, good relation with LoR writers. Seniors with similar profiles got in in previous years, so this was moderate for me. Maybe a bad SoP/CV

Came from a STEM background with a 3.95 major GPA. Have several tier-1 conference papers (first author). Still get rejected. Perhaps my SOP/PS is too messy.

Undergrad ECE at UT Austin. One DS internship, several DS/ML projects & competitions. 1.5 years software engineering work exp. 3 LoRs from professors, one of whom is a Penn Alum, another very well known in EE field.
