Computer Science, University of Chicago I am sorry to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission into our Ph.D. program in Computer Science. Our resources for supporting graduate students are limited, so we have to make difficult choices about whom to admit based on applicants' qualifications and faculty interests. Each year there are, unfortunately, many well-qualified candidates that we are not able to admit. We wish you the best in your pursuits, and we thank you for your interest in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago.

Middle Eastern Studies, University of Chicago I applied for the History Ph.D. program with a concentration on the Middle East but didn't make the cut. They sent my application to the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and I got accepted to their 2 year M.A. program with half tuition funding ($22,284/year). It's a consolation M.A., but I sure am consoled by the offer! :D I'll decline soon because I have a full funding Ph.D. offer elsewhere.

Classics PAMW, University of Chicago I emailed a professor I have worked with at Chicago and asked about my application status. He told me I was not accepted and that the competition was particularly fierce, so the primary focus of the applicants was the amount of years in the ancient languages. Good luck to the other applicants!

Committee On Social Thought, University of Chicago A prof of mine who attended the Committee said they were only going to make 4 or 5 offers this year (despite the usual ~150 applicants). Hence, the rejection came as little surprise, though a disappointment nevertheless. Great program.
