I had a first-author publication in MDPI Micromachines, and research experience in 3 different projects. I will be graduating with a BS in Mathematics and a BS in physics, in May of 2023, from an average state school.

Received email about status-change on portal. Accepted with no TA and 35K stipend. Exp: 1 research paper on arxiv, 2 in preparation. Field is QI (theoretical)

Will probably be rejecting them

8 publications in Q1 journals, 2 posters, one conference, 5 years relevant research experience.

Coming from a small public liberal arts school with no grades or GPA

exp AMO, current Rice student, 2 long research projects, 2 strong letters, no pub.

I have been waitlisted today and the graduate committee informed me that they will admit me if somebody rejects their offer before April 15. It is my sincere request to anyone who has received an offer from Rice Physics but isn't considering going there, please reject your offer if possible. I have not received any other admits and this one is my last hope of starting my PhD this year.

Generic rejection letter. At least they showed the courtesy to reject. Other universities have slept, I guess.

If you have better offers, please decline the Rice University Applied Physics program offer. I received a mail saying I have been put on the waitlist on 15/02/2022. Rice University is my top choice.
