Princeton University Graduate School Admission Results

Had an interview earlier this month. Received an email today!

Initially contacted Dec 23rd for an interview on Jan 6th (materials track). Basically they said they wanted to see if I was a good fit as the department is small and they have limited spots available. Received an email today that I was accepted. To give an idea of the stats that got me in: GPA was 3.68/4.00 in physics from an elite LAC. Didn't take the GRE. Had one publication as first author in a well regarded astronomy/astrophysics journal and one as a co-author in a conference proceeding. Research experience consisted of two summers in college (one at my college with one of my profs and another in an REU program), a failed senior thesis, and one and a half years (as of application submission) working in industry. Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear back!

ttpb: Take the result with a grain of salt when poster status is "O". A lot of scammers around here lately.

Same here. No notification in applyweb, but also no e-mail. This is torture.

No decision on ApplyWeb, but I also haven't received an acceptance email. Purgatory.

ttpb: did you any receive the email from the department? Or just wondering how did you know the result?

TTPB: I also have received the decision update. It is situated right next to the "View details" link. It is a link that says "View Decision". The update says they have got over 600 applications this year for a cohort of 12.

To the student that just posted about the rejection on the Princeton portal below - where exactly did you see the application update? Are you referring to the ApplyWeb portal? Very anxious generally about all decisions this cycle.

Great GPA and stats, 2 years of research at a top 10 school. Happened to check the website, it said the decision was updated. Good luck to those admitted. Very disappointed. American Politics.

TPB: I am 99% sure the one Princeton acceptance on GradCafe is a joke/troll. So I wouldn't worry about it

TPB, programs send out responses at different times. Judging by the past five or six years, Princeton's decisions will come some time between mid-February and the end of February. However, there is a good deal of variance year to year depending on the program. Furthermore, I expect the uncertainty will be a bit higher this year judging by some of the early responses already, and the fact that we're still in the middle of a pandemic. I'm feeling mad anxious as well (I'm sure we all are!), but I'm not sure it's quite time to be pushing the panic button yet.
