Linguistics, Northwestern University I know I didn't have excellent GRE or undergrad GPA. But it would've been nice of them, if they'd sent me a rejection email at least. They didn't notify anything about the admission. I only found out that I was rejected from this website.

Physics, Northwestern University TOEFL 111 (R29 L30 S24 W28) No publication, but decent research. Decent recommendation I guess Interviewed by poi two weeks before and went really well. Turned out that he knew my current supervisor and they collaborated many papers during postdocs. I think my supervisor wrote a strong recommendation and that made a difference.
