(EECS) Electrical And Computer Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology My PoI at CSAIL emailed this morning to notify me of my probable admission -- "95 percent" at this point, in their words. I am frankly flabbergasted, as I have zero research experience. I guess this school values GPA and coursework more than research. (I have completed extensive grad-level coursework.) SHOULD BE FALL 2018, NOT SPRING.

Brain And Cognitive Sciences (BCS), Massachusetts Institute of Technology Emailed my POI one week ago, and just got the reply, said not knowing my status, but I should hear from MIT soon. Does it mean I'll be invited to interview? Does anyone know has MIT BCS sent out all interview invitations? Thx a lot.

Aerospace Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology I took a bit of an unconventional path in my academic career. I graduated high school in 2001, and joined the air force shortly after the 9/11 attacks. I flew an F-35 for 13 years, frequently dealing with very practical technical issues. I know this doesn't give me the "theoretical" background that an aerospace engineer should have, but I definitely know the ins and outs of aircraft pretty f**king well. I then completed my Bachelor's and Master's in Aerospace Engineering at Harvard, graduating with a 3.92 GPA, and publishing 3 papers (2 first author, 1 second author) related to stability and control. Clearly, MIT values "theory" more than real world experience cause I sure as hell know wayyyyy more about how to actually operate aircraft than any of those snobby, couch potato, ad com faculty members. Also doesn't help that I'm in my 30's I suppose. I'm really going to miss Boston...
