For all of you who got rejected, do you think that getting rejected by SES would hurt our chances of getting in the TPP program? Also, if you got admitted TPP would you accept their offer?

Tbh I was expecting this cuz I am an undergrad student with no master's degree. Dear (NAME): The committees reviewing applications for admission to the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) were delighted to receive so many thoughtful and carefully prepared applications from talented individuals like you. While application reviews are continuing, at this point I am able to share a partial update on your application status. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you admission to the SES doctoral program for the 2021/2022 academic year. Please note that, per your request in the SES application, your application is also part of the Technology and Policy Program applicant pool, whose reviews are still in process. TPP admissions decisions are expected around 15 March. As you might expect, resources constrain the number of qualified applicants that we can accept, and I am sorry that we were unable to offer you a place in the SES PhD program. Thank you again for your interest in IDSS's academic programs

Also applied to TPP (for which according to the email, results will be out around March 15!)

2 years of relevant research experience, 1 first-author paper, 2 first-author conference presentations. Congrats to everyone who got in. On to the next for me.

Ttpb: Yeahh I emailed them. They said they're still finalizing decisions, and they should be out in a week or so

Undergrad from a top 15 engineering program (flagship state school). Had a 3.5 GPA, 2 publications as a primary author, research experience, internships. Received a canned rejection email at 9:15AM this morning (Friday, 2.26.2021) that said: Dear Carson Cortez: Thank you for your interest in the Aeronautics and Astronautics graduate program at MIT. You clearly have many strengths, but unfortunately we cannot offer you admission to our department at this time. Our committee selects from a large and talented pool of applicants each year (this year fewer than 8% of applicants were admitted), and we are truly sorry that we cannot extend to you, and many other strong students, the invitation to study with us for September 2021. We wish you much success as you take the next steps in your studies and your career. Sincerely, Graduate Admissions Committee Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics MIT At least I can rest easy now and move on to my backup schools, which are in a much better (and sunnier) location anyway!

Received my rejection email this morning. The program coordinator had said in a separate email that every applicant should receive word on their admission decision by March 1st so keep an eye out. Stay strong! You'll succeed regardless of where you end up!
