4a/3w/7r/1p. For perspective: I have perfect grades, a master's degree from a relatively prestigious department, and several publications in well-respected journals. So, if you're facing lots of rejections, don't be discouraged! Even excellent philosophers face lots of rejections.

It’s the PhD and the university I dreamed of and worked so hard for my entire life... The university just notified me that they rejected me after a long process. All the effort, dreams, and merits have just gone to waste. I knew opening this email would hurt, but I didn’t expect it to hurt this much. I see my life up until now passing before my eyes, and I feel like none of what I did made any sense. I am devastated. What a heartbreaking experience T.T. How painful it is to think that they could have considered merit and dreams. My congratulations to those who were accepted.

After careful review, I regret to inform you that the Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is unable to take favorable action on your application to the Program in Systems, Synthetic, and Quantitative Biology. The number of promising applicants well exceeded the number of offers of admission we can make for the 2025-2026 academic year. I know that this decision comes as a disappointment. Unfortunately, enrollment of new students is limited to a small fraction of those who are qualified for admission. I want to assure you that your application received full consideration by faculty members in the program to which you applied. Ignore status. How has everyone been doing? Is this admission cycle exceptionally tough? My friends and people I talk to did not receive satisfactory offers, if any.

I totally expected this outcome as I had not been offered an interview. It was a very long shot, but I did appreciate getting a letter so I could write "I didn't pay for this one for being poor and gay" in colors and I am planning to hang it up on my wall. The cycle is almost over for me, any admissions so far, but oh well, it is not over until it is over my dudes 0a/1w/5r/1p
