Masters F22 Graduate School Admission Results

Full scholarship

High GPA in both undergrad (4.0) and post-bacc CSUSM program (3.9). First undergrad was in education, worked in a high school and then corporate setting. Had four recommendation letters (didn't have access to them, but feel confident/had a good relationship with all professors), participated in every class, emailed professors outside of class for additional clarification. Did not have research experience or in the field experience but was hopeful my grades, recommendations, and enthusiasm would've made up for that. They did not. I was not asked to interview and I'm not sure if that was asked of everyone or just some they were wanting to speak with more.

Received a generic rejection email in the afternoon. No GRE. Applied straight from undergrad. Congrats to those who made it!

Got a text asking if I am free for a phone call and they told me over the phone that I was accepted!!!!

Boilerplate rejection letter. 150 applications, 5 spots in the program.

1 year out of undergrad, no GRE. Was a long shot but still sad.

3.82 CSDCAS GPA, No GRE; Checked portal throughout the day and eventually saw that I had an admissions decision ready.

I received the unofficial acceptance today from the department admissions committee. Official offer to come in a few days. I didn't take the GRE. My area of concentration is Chinese culture and its intersection with politics. 2a/1r/4p
