Note

UMass Amherst charged me an additional application fee (SOPHAS + their grad school), and then admitted me to their Master's without any acknowledgement that I had applied for the PhD. In fact, the portal now says that I submitted an application to this other program. No mention of funding. No contact from anyone in the department. Future students: do not waste your money applying to this school. Grateful to have already accepted another offer.
