To the accepted candidate below who said that the program is not reliable - I'm a current Finance PhD student of Rice and I witnessed the same thing happened in my year: A waitlisted candidate at UIUC pretended that he/she got accepted and sent several posts saying bad things about the program so that accepted candidates will reject their offers and he/she can get off the waitlist. Hope you are not doing the same thing. Otherwise, from my point of view, Rice has really good placements and faculty here always care about PhD students! You also have lots of opportunities to build your name in the profession and collaborate with professors.
