- Took me a week to build up the courage to open my email. Generic email to check portal. Generic link in portal to check decision. Acceptance letter started with "Thank you" so my heart initially dropped, but it went on to say "congratulations". This acceptance is significant because I have spent the past 10-15 years with the singular goal of getting into Yale. I have received many rejection letters over the years from Yale and as a direct result of them destroying my life and thrusting me into the darkest pit of despair, I have tried in various forms to commit su*cide. But today, I live.
