Ignore the status. Please don't accept any offer from this program. The funding package is a joke. It gives you 4 years of money, and then it will stop supporting you. Current PhD students are struggling, and some international students have to go back to their home countries to finish their research. Also, it's a university-wide problem. The upper administration is cutting funding and reducing SAA positions in many departments. Please don't come to IU. It doesn't deserve to be an R1 institution. This is really a shame.
