2 years of Ochem research, taken 6 graduate level Ochem courses, amazing letters of rec from various research advisors, 6 month analytical chem internship, 6 months unrelated research, spent time interacting with POIs ahead of time, 2 years teaching. Everyone thought I was golden, but clearly the assholes in the committee couldn't recognize talent if it choked them to death.
