Strong applicant with rec letter from a Stanford Prof and pretty good research experience. Still saw this coming, though. It's just so competitive and they like people who could fit with multiple staff members, whereas I really only fit with one. Best of luck to everyone looking at this in future cycles and I'm sure you'll land somewhere good :)
