3 years of research experience. I was initially rejected, but upon asking a member of the committee for feedback on my application, it was revealed my rejection was a mistake. Initial rejection was received around December 22nd I believe. Make sure to ask for feedback on your application just in case! Even if the decision was final, you may get some good advice out of it!
