Email to check portal. Didn't secure a supervisor before applying , emailed POI months ago to know if was taking on new graduate students but was invited to send an application (apparently too busy and didn't want to hear about my project). So this should also be taken into account apart from the fact that I'm an international student (very scarce funding opportunties at this U.)
