Does anyone from hep-th heard back from UPenn? I have applied and did'nt have any interview? Does this mean I am rejected? I have seen in the previous posts that everyone who got accepted are interviewed. This year hep-th really sucks. I applied to 10 places (out of which 6 were safe schools) and I got only one acceptance and 7 rejections. Some professors said that they are not rejecting because there are no vacancies this year. Then why the hell they are not mentioning this earlier and charging application fees. I spent my quality time and money preparing for these applications. Most of my CMP friends who have less experience than me are getting into top schools. Hep-th really sucks! Its narrowing like bottleneck as we go up. Things are worser for postdoc and faculty position. PS: I am waiting for UPenn and Maryland now!
