hi all -- this is a long shot, but if anyone else is thinking about declining stanford, I would really really appreciate it! stanford is my dream program that fits perfectly with my interests. none of the other programs I've been admitted/waitlisted at have faculty working in my interests at the intersection of epistemology, mind, language, and history of philosophy over the past hundred years, but stanford has many professors I want to work with in these areas. if I don't get into stanford this year, I'm going to have to reapply next cycle. I was also born and raised in the bay area, and going to stanford would mean that I can stay near my family and close friends, which is especially important to me during the pandemic. my mom lives alone, is in her 60's, and doesn't have any family nearby, so I want to stay close to her as long as I can. if you decline, I can't express how much I'd appreciate it!
