No hard feeling, has been accepted to a university in Japan, applied to test the water, no prior contact with POI for anyone wanting to be accepted in the next batch: always contacts POI prior to applying, have at least 3 paper with at least one first author (write anything with your lab members), don't bother to apply if your recommendation letter is from someone with little recognition/no relations whatsoever with the uni/the prof. GRE General >>165 GRE Physics >>850 strongly recommended. Without one of these, do not apply unless you have an extra 100$ to spend away.
