As far as I know, almost everyone got interviewed, so yes, getting an interview does not increase any chance of getting admitted. Probably just a normal procedure. The thing is Columbia U seems to not care about how late this is getting now since there is almost no penalty for them. Instead, they are so precisely controlling the final number of people to come to their program this fall.
