- Days later and I am still shocked by how rude this rejection "letter" was. The letter was very clearly copied-and-pasted, stating that they only admit "highly qualified" applicants. The only area of my application that might not have been "highly qualified" is my publications—I only have one publication (plus one pending). Still, this "reason" does not feel like the real reason my application was rejected and I wish they wouldn't have given ever rejected applicant such a sh*tty blanket reason. I had already been accepted to my top choice, so this rejection wasn't a huge loss. However, this culture of treating grad applicants/students so terribly has to come to an end at U of T eventually... right?! They have such a bad reputation amongst grad students—I really hope this changes as the school has a good reputation (in general) and the name still carries some weight.
