I received the acceptance mail (area: photonics, PI initials not disclosed) around 7pm Eastern Standard Time. In the mail there is a PDF that contains a lot of info about grad life at MIT, but more importantly for the villains who are asking, it says Feb 4th is the date when they send the acceptance mails.
