To the poster below asking about MAPSS/Oxford. I am also probably going to do the MAPSS program. From my discussions with the faculty at Oxford, it depends on your background. If your BA is also in philosophy/political theory, then the MSc should prepare you for a PhD in the same field. Since I don't have that background, it is not long enough to give me the background to get into a PhD while MAPSS will. MAPSS has 9 courses in one year which you can take from any of the social sciences to really tailor your experience, which is what I find most appealing about it.
