Funding Example Year 1: In the first year of the program you will serve as a first-year fellow. First-year fellows are guaranteed a Tutor or Reader appointment in the Department of Economics, which requires on average 10 hours per week. Fellows will receive a salary and department stipend, which before taxes, amounts to $27,000. This appointment also includes payment of tuition and fees. If you are not a California resident or you are an international student this would include nonresidential supplement tuition (NRST).
