Whilst it is not the policy of the School to give specific reasons for decisions, we offer the following to clarify matters. Decisions are contingent upon the availability of places - there are simply not enough places to give an offer to everybody with a first, upper second or equivalent. Many applicants, most of whom are extremely well qualified, are inevitably disappointed. Departments are looking for excellent references, a focussed personal statement and in some cases relevant work experience and good test results.
