The University Of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (UNC)Economics, PhD (F17)Rejected via Other on 22 Mar 2017 I22 Mar 2017
  • Called to find out status of my application. Apparently my GRE were just not competitive enough. The students on the waitlist have GRE scores above 90th percentile. GRE is king for the econ student. Was my top choice so I was holding out hope. Probably shouldve taken over the GRE before I started applying to schools to give myself a better shot at my top choices, or else just contemplated going to my safe schools and not applying to my top choices. That would be my advice to anybody thinking of starting grad school .... 5a/0w/4r/2?(ir)....

  • To those waiting on Iowa: beware. I live in town and am close with some of the business profs. They have been losing profs and tinkering with the program, which isn't great. Now there are rumblings that the PhD program will cease to exist within the next couple years. Love Iowa but everyone close to the program urging me to choose another option.
